Easter time is family time. Today we sat around the table and colored our annual Easter eggs. I was amazed at how involved the kids were this year! They have stained hands to prove it. We laughed, joked and made fun of all of the bizarre colors we ended up with. As I think back to last year, Reese wasn't even talking yet and Evan was more interested in coloring himself then the eggs. This year, Reese kept telling us how good the eggs were (because she had to taste test several - I'm surprised we had any left to color!) and Evan was really into the colors and the tattoos we had to put on them. Ahh, the difference a year makes! We also pause this time of year to celebrate the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us. I know that I get caught up in the so called sacrifices I make on a daily basis - for friends, family, work, and the list goes on. But what type of a sacrifice did Jesus give for us? The ultimate gift of life so that we may have eternal life in heaven. I need to be mindful of the love and grace that came with that sacrifice and be mindful that the minut sacrifices we make here on earth are only that- minut. We are thankful as always for what we have and look forward to an Easter day filled with family and friends. I wish the same for all of you!

Lent Begins

Each year as Lent approaches, our family has the same discussion. What are you giving up for Lent? This year I have decided to take something on. I will be saying the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Novena. I pray that this season of Lent brings peace and love to your families, as I pray it does mine as well.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross Novena
Jesus, Who because of Your burning love for us willed to be crucified and to shed Your Most Precious Blood for the redemption and salvation of our souls, look down upon us and grant the petition we ask for ...( mention here)We trust completely in Your Mercy. Cleanse us from sin by Your Grace, sanctify our work, give us and all those who are dear to us our daily bread, lighten the burden of our sufferings, bless our families, and grant to the nations, so sorely afflicted, Your Peace, which is the only true peace, so that by obeying Your Commandments we may come at last to the glory of Heaven.

6 Years and Counting

Kalbert and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary this weekend! My parents watched the kids as we headed out to "our place" in Solana Beach. Even in the pouring rain, Nobu sushi and the company of my husband was well worth it. I am so thankful to spend my life with Kalbert, raising our two beautiful children. With him by my side, I have the confidence to take on the world and keep my head above water (even when I am sure I am drowning!) I thank God for this wonderful yet sometimes crazy life and cherish even the smallest moments. Here's to many more years to come!

Well the days just seem to be flying by. I can't believe that we are nearing the end of January! Where did the month go??? The weather has been a little chilly the last few days, so we have been stuck inside looking foe activities to keep the day moving. As you can see, Reese is surrounding herself with her favorite things (I am wondering what I would surround myself in - chocolate maybe??) , and Evan has become our resident super hero. He is doing a great job fighting crime such as rescuing toys from the dog and finding lost crayons. I hope that your month was filled with great adventures as well! Watch out February - here we come!

Today was a great day! I love being on vacation! The kids and I spent the day at Sea World and had an absolute blast. I really enjoy seeing the wonder and excitement in their eyes as they experience new things. Reese fell in love with the beluga whales and Evan was really impressed (from his mouth to this blog) by the Shamu show and Elmo 4D. The weather was great and the day just about perfect. Now we are on to the next adventure...

These are the days!

We are just finishing up a great weekend! I love the days when it is quiet, the house is clean, the grass has been mowed and we can enjoy each other as a family. Evan was just a doll today waiting for the Charger game. He informed us that maybe we should pray before the game started - because Jesus is a Chargers fan. He proceeded to make the sign of the cross and pray that the Chargers win... He then stated that his favorite thing to do is to talk to Jesus. I am so in love with that child! Reese's new thing is using her manners. She loves to say "peas and tank you" to just about everyone. She is an absolute love and I could not be blessed with two sweeter children. Tomorrow Kalbert is back to school and I will enjoy me final week off with my kids. I treasure this time as if it were gold and try to make the most out of it. How much can I cram into this week? Sea World, Wild Animal Park, maybe a play date or two... Whatever we end up doing will be blessed moments with my children. I hope you all enjoy your week. The weather is beautiful and the sun is shining!

Fun in the Tub

I realized today that time is like water trickling through our fingers. I look at my two precious babies and wonder just where the time has gone. This year, Reese will turn two - such a big girl. Today she looked up at the sky as a plane passed overhead and yelled out "airplane!" And Evan, what can I say? He is turning 5 this year and is going to start Kindergarten! It is truly amazing just how fast the time goes. Kalbert and I keep reminding ourselves that we need to enjoy every moment the day brings, because as soon as we blink, they will be out the door on their own. We want to cherish every day and thank God for the gifts He has given to us.
